ANNIE TERRAZZO JOINS SAATCHI ART FOR INAUGURAL LOS ANGELES EXHIBITION OF “THE OTHER ART FAIR”

Multi-media collage artist Annie Terrazzo has been selected to show in the inaugural Los Angeles xhibition of The Other Art Fair presented by Saatchi Art. The Other Art Fair was founded in 2011 by Ryan Stanier as a platform to showcase work by the very best in emerging art to art lovers from all backgrounds.

On March 15-18, 2018 the Fair makes its West Coast debut at Los Angeles' historic The Majestic Downtown, presenting 100 talented emerging artists alongside a unique and immersive features program.

Terrazzo will be debuting a whole new body of work in her booth entitled “Riots And Cheap Thrills.” This is the most immediate and poignant collection of work Terrazzo has created to date, being made in tandem with the tumultuous shifts in our culture as they are occurring. Themes will include the #MeToo movement, emale empowerment, the endless news cycle, objectification, identity, and the constant struggle of alignment and balance. In this body of work, she is also experimenting with using new materials, such as roken safety glass, interactive elements, layering effects and 3D printed objects.

“I see so much anger in the world, and it seems like the only way to win is to make someone lose, right now,” says Terrazzo. “But things develop in the opposite direction when they reach their limit.” For the first time ever, she is also letting color lead her creative process, allowing different hues to serve almost as gestures.

Terrazzo will have a total of 16 works available at the fair, and all will be for sale on Saatchi Art’s website.

About Annie Terrazzo
Born in Breckenridge Colorado, Annie Terrazzo surrounded herself with dreams. Her childhood was unorthodox and chaotic, having been raised by a mother who was a schizophrenic adult entertainer and a father who was a formula one race car driver. This chaos was countered by a large family who, through silversmithing and plein air painting, taught her the value of and method to making beauty in the world. She spent large portions of her time writing plays on an old typewriter, watching movies, and dreaming of Paris, activities that would influence her later work on international fashion.

After graduating from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, CA, Terrazzo began her career in trash portraiture, focusing on using found objects, newspapers, and magazines.
